No clucking for now... but the chickens will be back!
Thank you for your trust and enthusiasm this past year. Thanks to you, it was a wonderful season. From March, we will gladly welcome you again with beautiful chickens looking for a loving home.
The Ayam Cenami is an ornamental chicken that immediately stands out because of its exceptionally dark appearance. The black plumage is complemented by dark colouring on several visible parts of the bird, giving it a very different look from most chickens in a mixed flock.
Egg production is an indication and may vary between individual hens depending on age, season, nutrition and living conditions.
The Ayam Cenami likes to stay active and explore its surroundings. It can initially be more reserved than very calm ornamental chickens. Gentle handling and regular contact will help the chicken become accustomed to everyday care.
Despite its very dark appearance, the Ayam Cenami does not lay black eggs. Its eggs have a light to cream-coloured shell. This chicken is therefore mainly chosen for its unusual appearance rather than high egg production.
Provide plenty of room for foraging and a secure run. Its active nature and reasonable flying ability make good fencing particularly important. A dry and well-sheltered coop provides protection during cold and wet periods.
Important after purchase: newly purchased chickens should initially be fed chick meal. Gradually mix in an increasing amount of regular grain to ensure a smooth transition to their subsequent diet.
A good choice for:
The Ayam Cenami can fit well into a varied flock with medium-sized chickens that are sufficiently active and confident. Araucana, Vorwerk and Appenzeller Spitzhauben are interesting combinations from our range.
Provide enough space when combining different chickens and always introduce new birds gradually to the existing flock.
The main reason to choose an Ayam Cenami is its distinctive black appearance. This is not the right chicken if maximum egg production is your priority, but it is an excellent option for anyone wanting an unusual ornamental bird in the flock.
With the Ayam Cenami, its distinctive appearance is the main attraction. Give this active ornamental chicken plenty of room to forage and pay extra attention to secure fencing. If plenty of fresh eggs are your main priority, a specialised laying hen will be a better choice.
