The Brahma is one of the largest chicken breeds in the world. Its impressive size, calm nature and feathered legs make it a true centrepiece in any flock.

3. Temperament and behaviour

Brahmas are known for their peaceful nature. They are rarely overly active and often fit well into mixed flocks with other gentle breeds.

4. Eggs and laying

Although mainly valued for their appearance, Brahmas also produce a useful number of light-coloured eggs each year, making them both decorative and practical.

5. Housing and care

Due to their size, Brahmas appreciate more space than smaller breeds. Their feathered legs remain in the best condition when kept on dry ground.

Important after purchase: newly purchased chickens should initially be fed chick meal. Gradually mix in regular grain to ensure a smooth transition.

6. Who is this breed suitable for?

A good choice for:

  • enthusiasts of large chicken breeds;
  • families and hobby keepers;
  • anyone looking for a calm ornamental chicken;
  • poultry keepers with enough space.

7. Which chickens can it live with?

The Brahma generally combines well with calm breeds such as Cochin, Faverolles and Wyandotte.

8. Why choose the Brahma?

Few breeds combine such an impressive appearance with such a gentle temperament. The Brahma is an excellent option for anyone wanting a truly striking ornamental chicken.
